About ACE Design & Build

We design and build backyards across Los Angeles County and the Conejo Valley, from one wall to the whole yard.

Our crews

Our lead contractor comes to your home for the site visit, and our own crews do the building.

The same team plans the yard, runs the schedule and builds the work, so you deal with one company from the first walk through the yard to the last day of work.

How the work gets done

One ACE team designs your yard, manages the project and builds it with our own crews, from the first site visit to the final walkthrough.

01

We design it

One plan for the whole yard

  • Measured at your site visit by our lead contractor
  • The whole yard on one plan, so the parts fit
02

We manage it

One team runs the project

  • One schedule, in the right order
  • One ACE contract, and one team to call
03

We build it

With our own crews

  • Walls, patios, structure and planting
  • Built in the order the yard needs

Pool shells and electrical work are done by licensed specialists, scheduled and supervised by our team, under one ACE contract.

License, insurance and contracts

Before you hire anyone, the Contractors State License Board suggests checking the license, the insurance and the contract terms. Its consumer guide is a good place to start.

We go over the contract with you before you sign, so you know what it says about the work, the schedule and the payments.

Written contracts. The CSLB consumer guide explains what a California home improvement contract should include. We go over ours with you before you sign.

Questions about contracts and paperwork

How do payments work?

Your payment schedule is written into your contract, and we go over it with you before you sign. California sets rules for payments on home improvement contracts, like a limit on the down payment, and the CSLB consumer guide explains them. General information, not legal advice.

Do I pay anything before work starts?

Not for the site visit or the written proposal. For homes in Los Angeles County and the Conejo Valley, both are free. If you sign a contract, California law limits the down payment, and later payments can't get ahead of the work that's done or the materials delivered. Your contract lists the payment schedule. The CSLB consumer guide explains the state's rules. General information, not legal advice.

What if I change my mind?

Before you sign, you can simply say no. If you sign a home improvement contract at your home, California law gives you a short window to cancel, and the contract includes a cancellation notice that explains it. Once work starts, any change to the plan is written up, and you sign it before that work begins. General information, not legal advice.

Can you help with my insurance paperwork?

Your written proposal lists the work area by area, which can help when you talk to your insurer. Your insurer decides what's covered, so check with them before work starts.

Where we work

We work throughout Los Angeles County and the Conejo Valley: Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Oak Park and Westlake Village.

Why backyards

A backyard packs many kinds of work into one small space: grading and drainage, walls, gas, power and water lines, surfaces and planting. When each part is planned on its own, the parts clash where they meet.

So we plan the whole yard first, starting with what goes under the surface, and build it in the right order, all at once or in phases.

We hired Ace Design & Build for a full backyard remodel that included a new pool and outdoor kitchen, and we couldn't be happier with the result. They completely transformed the space and did a great job with the layout and overall design. ... We've already gotten so much use out of the backyard and it feels like we have a whole new space to enjoy.

Ace Design & Build completely transformed our backyard in Brentwood. We had them install new pavers, update the landscaping and plants, and rework the entire outdoor space. The difference is incredible, it went from outdated to a beautiful extension of our home. ... We love the finished space and have been spending so much more time outside.
